My experiences with PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT IN DISTANCE EDUCATION

As you will learn in my video, my name is Christi. This is my first blogging experience.  That is the trouble with going to school and teaching at the same time. There is little time to investigate new technology. I try to attend as many trainings as possible and I have learned some new technologies, and hopefully this class will provide more opportunities.

  1. Nice meeting you and seeing your video. I'm guessing your false statement is you live in a subdivision. Working with at-risk youth is such a challenge, but so rewarding.

Look forward to working in this course with you.

    1. Hi Stephanie, Thanks for your response, and yes, I do not live in a traditional subdivision. I live in Sherwood Forest (really-that is the name of it). Today some free-range cows came through. Usually we have elk and deer, not cows.

  2. Hi Christy,
Wow, you keep busy! My hats off to you, it takes a special type of person to work day in and day out with at-risk youth.
I see that we have been assigned to the same group. I look forward to working with you. I will send an email to all the group members shortly with my contact information so that we can communicate on a regular basis.
I don't believe that you live in a subdivision. If subdivisions in Arizona are like the ones here in North Carolina, woods are cleared completely in order to build more homes.
    Talk with you soon,
    Andy

    1. Hi Andy,
In Phoenix,2 hours from here, there is mainly cactus, and they plant all their trees. Coconino County (where Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon are) is the second largest county in the U.S. and it is mostly forest. There are strict ordinances about how many trees can be removed to build homes and businesses. If too many trees are removed, the business or contractor must plant a certain amount of trees to replace the excess cut down. I also live in a dark skies area, where there are strict limitations on billboards and lights. We have the observatory here where Pluto was discovered. Our street lights are a dim yellow. You would think this would contribute to crime, but Flagstaff has little crime. It is also expensive to live here, and the income is lower than people actually need, so many people have more than one job.

There are subdivisions in Flagstaff, but there are also trees. The two most common trees are Ponderosa Pines and Austrian Pines. I live in Parks, which is 20 miles west of Flagstaff. I live in Sherwood Forest, but I haven't seen Robin Hood yet. I got your email, and responded already. Sorry this is so long.
